Things to do

We celebrated my beautiful friend’s birthday this week. The BIG 33. To me all birthdays after 29 is big, but thats just me.

So we do as South Africans do and we celebrate by eating, this stereotyping turned out to be false as I noticed the Americans also celebrate by eating, so do Canadians and definitely the Mexicans so I retract my statements and replace it with: So we do as human beings do and celebrate by eating.

Still fairly new to not only this country but also the city, all the restaurants where we will dine will be a new experience, and I love new experiences.

We were invited to Firebirds in StoneCrest. This is a chain restaurant with locations in South Park, North Lake and numerous other cities in North Carolina. But once you walk through the doors, you forget its a chain restaurant. The decor is amazing (beautiful detail and big focus pieces), the staff super friendly (from hostess to bus boy), the manager visible, the atmosphere warm and inviting, a great menu (chicken, seafood and beef dishes), wide range of beverages including nonalcoholic drinks, extraordinary cocktails and desserts to make your mouth water.

We had an absolute amazing and most satisfying experience from the moment we opened the door (it also helps when you have great company). I ordered the Simply Grilled Mahi (my new favorite seafood dish), my husband had the Ribeye, our little girl had the kiddies portion of Mac and Cheese (this is a huge portion). These items was so delicious! I could not fault anything or make a recommendation for a change, it was just that good. We ended off our GUSTAOCEPTION experience with A WARM CHOCOLATE BROWNIE. We love chocolate brownies and we sometimes dapper in the process of making our own so I would classify us as experts in the brownie eating department and I can confidently say: THAT BROWNIE WAS TO DIE FOR!

The ladies had bubbles and the gents could chose from a variety of crafts beers and special bourbons.

This restaurant is definitely a special occasion restaurant and I can recommend this restaurant for your next big or special date!

Ps. This restaurant is kiddies friendly (not often that you find a smart restaurant that is also kiddies friendly).

A big thank you to our friends for a wonderful evening at Firebirds – we must definitely do that again.
