My husband makes great craft beer and this was a hobby of his back in our old home town. For a craft beer lover North Carolina is the ultimate place to be. There are so many craft beer breweries in this state, each brewery more different to the other.
If you are married to a man like my husband you know that drinking beer will be a big part of your life so you best start loving beer or all your outings will be less amazing.
Here in Charlotte is no different to the rest of N.C. We have plenty of breweries and many of them in walking distance from each other. This is also convenient for us as we live in the city – walking distance to many of the breweries.
Breweries come up with new ideas, beers and entertainment areas all the time, this makes your outing never boring. furthermore, new breweries or “beer shops” are opening all the time. This is the time of beer and corn hole.
We have not been able to visit all the breweries as of yet but I for see this happening in the near future.
Some of the breweries have diner facilities and other make use of food trucks. Most of the breweries are kid and k-9 friendly, giving you NO EXCUSE to not enjoy a cold one either after work or on the weekend. Some breweries offer free tours of their breweries – where the magic happens. All the Craft Beer breweries have a special drawing card like:
Olde Mecklenburg Brewery (OMB), has this amazing outdoors area and some afternoons live music, plenty of tables most of them in the shade, acres of land for the kids to run around and then a german touched food menu (it also helps that this brewery is walking distance from our home). Be on the lookout for their events – always a must!
Across from OMB is a smaller in size but definitely not in taste brewery, called Sugar Creek Brewery. This venue has a beautiful outside space and fairy lights over their patio – if you are anything like me, you are drawn to outside lights like a moth to fire. This brewery has a Belgium influence. I just love the taste of their beer, the decor of their taproom and the labels on their beer bottles are so cool and different. Sugar Creek also have many events regularly so please check out their website below.
Heist Brewery in NODA, a brewery I have mentioned in my NODA post, this brewery caters for everyone. They have great beer, an amazing food menu, cocktails and a massive indoors venue. They also have a beautiful big tree outside but you have to reserve a table under that tree as its so desired. Plan a visit to their brewery by clicking on the link below.
Triple C Brewing Co. This brewery is owned by Zimbabweans, and being from Africa myself makes this their drawing card, not the only reason for going there but a great reason for me. My continent representing! The beer is great and also holds some awards. They do not have a kitchen on site but have different food trucks available every night. They are also dog and fitness fanatics friendly.
Sycamore Brewery. This brewery was my first craft beer brewery visit in Charlotte so will always hold that accolade but has so much more to mention. They are also proof that it is not the size of the taproom that matters, its the atmosphere! The outside area is also so welcoming. They have a roasted coconut beer to die for! This beer is not for everyone but I sure do love it. They have a small kitchen for pressed sandwiches during the week but has a great lineup of food trucks for the rest of the time. You can play cornhole at most breweries but this one stands out. Please visit their website link below.
Wooden Robot, they may be the new kids in the South End block but have so much to offer. They have by far the biggest collection of craft beers to order from. The old well-weathered brick building ensure for a cozy atmosphere. And to see the actual life size wooden robot at the door makes you smile. Please see link below for more details on the Wooden Robot.
Three Spirits Brewery. They have a great story of how they become a reality. The beer will definitely quench your thirst. They also brag with live music from time to time. Check them out at:
A few other breweries to mention is Rock Bottom Brewery, Birdsong, NoDa (next on my list to visit). I have tasted almost all the other breweries’s beers and can’t wait to experience what their breweries have to offer.
You will find many fine establishments in Charlotte selling local craft beer, and more often than not, they will be on special so I try always support my local craft houses.
Happy brewing beer brothers!
