What a weekend!
We were one of the lucky families to venture on over to the U.S. National Whitewater Center this weekend and it so happened to be the TUCK festival. What an experience.
What could be better than perfect weather, outdoor living and thousands and thousands of people with either a kayak, a kid or a k-9 on a leash. Young and old in pre summer bodies braving the sun on their snow touched bodies.
There was some water or outdoor activity all the time wherever you looked. The outdoor activities ranges from: Rope climbing, Kayaking, White water rafting, Paddle boarding, Zip lining, obstacle courses and families cycling or walking the many trails available, to name but a few. The air exuded a smell of being active and moving.
There were also spectators everywhere sitting on chairs or blankets close to the waters and action, hoping for some of the sweat to be washed off by the little splashes from the water as the rafts and kayaks broke through the rapids.
Being surrounded by these athletes and hobbyist make you want to pick up some board and pursue a water sport.
This was also a competition weekend and I wish all the winners a big congratulations!
In the middle of this facility was a bandshell with a band playing some songs forcing your hips to sway to the beat of happiness. There was a beer garden with beers on tap to quench any beer lover’s thirst and for the non-beer drinking ladies, they also had wine. There were food stalls with summer favorites like tacos and pizzas. There were also little carts of heaven called “King of POPs” – a frozen lolly stand for kids young and old. There is also a fixed restaurant and a cafe called the market for the not so casual lunches.
This little piece of outdoor heaven is a great day out for the whole family even without the TUCK festival event.
